On 13 August 2021, the CAREC Institute Deputy Director Dr. Iskandar Abdullaev attended the climate security seminar organized by Adelphi think tank (Berlin) for Germany’s International Diplomatic Academy. Dr. Abdullaev presented the current trends in climate change in Central Asia, and talked about growing water scarcity, and increasing need for investment in the water sector, also shared findings from the Institute’s recent publications on these topics.
The CAREC Institute Director Syed Shakeel Shah was invited to participate in a roundtable on the role of trade, investment, and development agencies (TIDAs) in kickstarting post-COVID recovery organized by the World Economic Forum (WEF) on 5 July 2021. The meeting attempted to identify priority areas and actions for TIDAs to accelerate recovery, discuss how public-private cooperation can advance these areas and actions, and determine how the Forum can support the process.

The CAREC Institute Deputy Director Two Dr. Iskandar Abdullaev participated in a webinar organized in the framework of the program titled “Water as a driver of sustainable recovery: economic, institutional and strategic aspects of water resources management in Central Asia,” supported by the Blue Peace of Central Asia initiative of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, and the Stockholm International Water Institute, with attendance of experts from sector ministries of Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan; EU, GIZ, and academia.
