CI Delegation Participates in New Development Bank Annual Meeting and Visits Key Partners
Recently, Dr. Li Kouqing, Deputy Director One of the CAREC Institute (CI), and Mr. Hu Xiao, Chief of the Human Resource and Finance Division, attended the Annual Meeting of the New Development Bank (NDB) in Moscow, Russia. On the sidelines of the event, they visited the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) and the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) to discuss opportunities for further cooperation.
At the NDB Annual Meeting, Dr. Li participated as a panelist in the seminar titled “Universities of the New Economy.” The seminar explored how universities and their performance can provide the foundation for the long-term competitiveness of the new economy amid a rapidly evolving global landscape. During the discussion, Dr. Li shared regional experiences of how advanced technologies have accelerated economic growth in recent years and highlighted the need for universities to adapt to changing economic dynamics by cultivating talent equipped for the demands of the new economy. He also emphasized the fundamental importance of global and regional cooperation, noting that “everything will be critical without mutual trust and collaboration”.
During the visit, Dr. Li held bilateral talks with senior officials from EFSD and EDB. At EFSD, he met with Mr. Iaroslav Mandron, Managing Director, Mr. Sergei Ulatov, Chief Economist, and other officials. At EDB, Dr. Li met with Mr. Evgeny Vinokurov, Vice Chairman of the Board and Chief Economist, and teams in research and partnership. Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in research, capacity building, knowledge sharing, and event support, with particular attention to developing a concrete multi-year cooperation plan for the coming period.
In addition, Dr. Li met with representatives from the Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China and the Multilateral Cooperation Center for Development Finance (MCDF). He also granted interviews with local media, sharing CI’s perspectives on regional economic cooperation and development.
