Policy Dialogue on Accelerating Transport and Logistics Digitalization in the CAREC Region
The CAREC Institute will host an online Policy Dialogue titled “Accelerating Transport and Logistics Digitalization in the CAREC Region,” on 16 July 2026, from 16:00 to 18:00 Beijing Time (GMT+8).
The CAREC region, a vital Asia-Europe link, faces potential constraints due to non-physical barriers such as outdated customs procedures, paper-based processes, and fragmented digital systems. Despite significant investments in physical infrastructure, these inefficiencies slow trade, increase costs, and limit connectivity. The CAREC Institute’s recent research outlines digitalization efforts across five CAREC member countries (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan), and identifies interoperable national e-logistics systems and digital transport corridors as critical tools to expand trade, shorten transit times and fortify regional supply chains.
Aligned with the CAREC Transport and Digital Strategies 2030, this online dialogue aims to strengthen regional collaboration and advance the digital transformation of cross-border connectivity. Led by researchers from the CAREC Institute’s research project “Digital CAREC: National e-Logistics Platforms and Digitalization of Transport Corridors,” the discussions will center on three core themes: the development of integrated national e-logistics platforms, digital upgrading and interoperability of transport corridors, and regional coordination mechanisms for seamless cross-border data exchange.
Bringing together policymakers, development partners and private sector experts, the event will address key industry challenges such as fragmented digital systems and poor cross-system interoperability, and jointly formulate a practical roadmap for building efficient, resilient and fully digitalized CAREC trade and transport corridors.
