Policy Dialogue “Enhancing Containerization in the CAREC Region: Strategies for Policy and Economic Growth”

The CAREC Institute will host an online policy dialogue on “Enhancing Containerization in the CAREC Region: Strategies for Policy and Economic Growth” on 27 August 2026, from 16:00 to 18:00 Beijing time (GMT+8). Simultaneous interpretation will be available in English and Russian.

This event focuses on regional connectivity and containerization to boost trade efficiency and economic growth across the CAREC region. Drawing on the CAREC Institute’s recent research, Containerization in the CAREC Region: Trends, Developments & Recommendations, the dialogue will identify key bottlenecks in container transport and explore actionable policy measures. The research analyzes the current state of regional transport and logistics, noting that congestion at critical transit nodes and underdeveloped information systems hinder containerized freight. By comparing time and cost performance across transport modes, it confirms the economic advantages of containerization and recommends strengthening public-private partnerships, formulating national containerization strategies, and advancing digitalization through initiatives such as single window systems.

The dialogue will bring together policymakers, industry practitioners, and stakeholders to discuss these findings and exchange insights on regional trade and transport dynamics. Participants will explore policy and investment priorities to align national strategies with regional connectivity goals, jointly improve infrastructure and regulatory frameworks, lower trade costs, and support sustainable development.
