CAREC Institute Participates in Digital Economy Workshop in Hangzhou

The CAREC Institute participated in the ASEAN Plus Three (10+3) Digital Economy Workshop and the Third ASEAN-China (10+1) Digital Economy Workshop, held at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China, from 20 October to 6 November 2025. The event was hosted by the Centre for International Studies on Development and Governance (CiSDG) at Zhejiang University and attracted over 50 participants representing 13 countries.

The workshop featured classroom sessions, field visits, a forum, and interactive exchanges, focusing on collaboration and knowledge sharing in the digital economy and artificial intelligence (AI). Participants also visited Hangzhou and Shenzhen to explore case studies and best practices in China’s leading digital cities.

Dr. Li Kouqing, Deputy Director One of the CAREC Institute, delivered opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in AI and digital transformation. He also introduced the CAREC Institute’s ongoing initiatives to support policy development in these fields.

In partnership with universities and industry experts, the CAREC Institute is working to strengthen AI policy-making capacity in the region. This effort will continue in December with the launch of the inaugural CAREC Leadership Training Workshop on Leveraging AI for Social and Economic Transformation, further supporting the region’s digital advancement.
