CAREC Institute Participates in Seventh Belt and Road National Accounting Standards Cooperation Forum
Dr. Li Kouqing, Deputy Director One of the CAREC Institute, attended the Seventh Belt and Road National Accounting Standards Cooperation Forum held in Shanghai on October 14–15, 2025. The forum was hosted by the Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China and jointly organized by the China Accounting Standards Committee, Xiamen National Accounting Institute, the Research Center for the Belt & Road Financial and Economic Development, and Shanghai National Accounting Institute. It brought together delegates from 27 countries and regions across Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America, as well as representatives from international organizations such as the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), the New Development Bank, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the CAREC Institute.
This year’s forum discussed recent developments in accounting standards and practices. Panels explored topics such as “AI and Digital Technologies Enabling Accounting Transformation” and “Green Development Pathways Toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).” There were also sessions for sharing experiences on training financial and accounting talent, as well as on global and regional trends in sustainability disclosure standards.
During the forum, Dr. Li moderated the experience-sharing session titled “Education of Financial and Accounting Talents”. This discussion gave delegates a chance to share insights into developing future-ready finance professionals and strengthening capacity across the Belt and Road region.
The CAREC Institute’s participation highlights its commitment to regional cooperation and knowledge sharing in support of advancing accounting standards and sustainable development.
