Professor Li Kouqing Visits Xi’an Universities to Promote Cooperation
Professor Li Kouqing, Deputy Director One of the CAREC Institute (CI), recently visited several leading universities in Xi’an to strengthen academic partnerships and promote knowledge exchange.
During his visit, Professor Li delivered a keynote lecture titled “Financial Cooperation and Economic Development of East Asia” at Xi’an Jiaotong University, marking the start of the new semester. The event attracted over 30,000 participants both online and offline, reflecting strong interest in regional economic cooperation. Professor Li highlighted how financial collaboration drives economic growth in East Asia, sharing practical examples from the region.
In addition to the lecture, Professor Li met with leaders and professors from Xi’an Jiaotong University, Shaanxi Normal University, and Northwest University. He shared recent achievements of the CAREC Institute and outlined its strategic priorities for the next five years, focusing on applied research, policy dialogue, capacity building, and other core activities aimed at promoting regional cooperation and sustainable development. Professor Li also introduced upcoming flagship events, including the Tianshan Forum for Central Asia Economic Cooperation, the Leadership Training Program, and the 9th CAREC Think Tank Development Forum, and encouraged universities to participate.
Faculty members from the three universities shared their latest research and training initiatives focused on Central Asia, touching on regional economic development, cultural exchange, and international cooperation. In their discussions, participants highlighted the need to connect academic research with practical policy solutions to address common regional challenges. All sides expressed their continued commitment to working together on joint research, capacity building, knowledge sharing, and think tank networking.
These exchanges have laid a solid foundation for lasting partnerships between the CAREC Institute and Xi’an academic institutions, contributing to enhanced regional connectivity and shared prosperity across Central Asia and beyond.
