The CAREC Institute participated in the “Tree of SCO” Digital Technology Training Program, held in Beijing from 9–12 September 2025. Hosted by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) and the SCO Big Data Cooperation Center, the program brought together experts and policymakers from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and CAREC member countries to exchange knowledge on digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), and big data cooperation.

Dr. Asif Razzaq, Senior Research Specialist at the CAREC Institute, delivered a presentation on the digital divide and AI challenges in the CAREC region. He emphasized the importance of affordable connectivity, inclusive AI adoption, and enhanced cross-border cooperation.

During the program, Dr. Razzaq engaged in field visits, including discussions with CAICT researchers, meetings with the Go Global platform to explore innovation ecosystem models, and participation in the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS 2025) to observe global trends in AI-enabled services and digital platforms. He also attended workshops focused on energy-efficient AI computing and sustainable digital infrastructure.

Building on the insights and connections gained through this training program, the CAREC Institute looks forward to deepening collaboration with regional and international partners. By fostering joint initiatives and knowledge exchange, the Institute aims to support inclusive and sustainable digital transformation across the CAREC region.
