CAREC Institute Grant Supports Innovation Governance Workshop in Uzbekistan
From September 23 to 26, the CAREC Institute (CI) and Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT) jointly organized a four-day workshop titled “Building Anticipatory Innovation Governance Capacity in Uzbekistan.” The workshop was held as part of the CI Capacity Building Grant Program, which aims to promote skill development and knowledge exchange among CAREC member countries.
The event brought together representatives from various ministries, government agencies, and research institutions, as well as international experts, to discuss approaches for strengthening forward-looking policymaking in Uzbekistan. Through a combination of interactive training sessions, expert presentations, and practical exercises, participants examined the Anticipatory Innovation Governance framework, which integrates strategic foresight, innovation, and public engagement into policy development.
This framework provided a basis for further discussions on a range of critical issues facing Uzbekistan, including climate change, sustainable urban development, environmental protection, and the green transition. These topics align with the country’s national development priorities and the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy.
The workshop not only deepened participants’ understanding of anticipatory governance but also served as a valuable platform for cross-sectoral collaboration. It enabled participants to network, build relationships, and create new opportunities for future joint activities.
