CAREC Corridor 1

CAREC Corridor 1, the most active of the corridors, links Europe and East Asia. The route traverses from the border with the Russian Federation to the People's Republic of China via Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic.



Europe to East Asia

CAREC Corridor 1 links Europe to the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and East Asia. The route traverses from the border with the Russian Federation to the PRC via Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic.

A series of investment and technical assistance projects along the Corridor are underway.

The corridor begins on the border with the Russian Federation, and is a rail and road network that passes through Kazakhstan, and then connects to the China Railway in Ala Shankou. Corridor 1-b
DescriptionCountryRoute
The corridor coincides with the Mega R-50 project of Kazakhstan which begins in Orenburg, Russian Federation, passes through Kazakhstan, and then enters the PRC at Khorgos, and proceeds eastward. The railway from Khorgos to Kuytun via Jinghe will be completed soon. RUS Orenburg

The corridor begins in Troisk on the border with the Russian Federation, passes through Kazakhstan, and then continues through the Kyrgyz Republic. The route uses the Kyrgyz Railway to Balykchy and continues by road to Kashi (or Kashgar), where it connects to the China Railway network and proceeds eastward. RUS Troisk(rail & road)
